After you finish your soda, instead of throwing the aluminum can in the trash toss the can in to the separate container. While your at work get the cans from your co-workers and take them home at the end of the day.

You can also smash them by hand, just give them a little twist and crush them. A sledge hammer can also be used or they make can smasher that u can buy in the stores.

  3. Store your aluminum cans until you have a good size load. You want to make sure you have enough cans to make the trip worth the time and gas it takes to get to the recycling place you chose. You can put a trash bag in the plastic container your using to put your cans in and take the bag out when it gets full and put it to the side until you have enough to take off.

  4. Now we need to find a recycling plant that takes aluminum cans from individuals. Check the inserts in your utility bill or you can look in your local phone book. You can also search the web for local recycling plants in your town. There are some plants that only accept only from industries only. Make sure you call to find out if the recycling facility you choose buys aluminum cans from individuals.

  5. After accumulating all the cans your vehicle can hold, it is time to take those aluminum cans to the recycling plant that you choose. If you can try to plan your trip on a day that you are going to visit that part of town. That way your not wasting gas and this way it will be more cost effective.

  6. When you get to the recycling plant there will be someone around that will help you unload your cans and that person also weight them. They will give you a ticket of how much your aluminum cans weight and you take it to an office and they pay you for the amount of pounds the cans weight.

Most people think that saving aluminum cans is a lot of work but it really isn’t. By saving and selling your cans you can possibly make a extra car payment or maybe even pay one of the monthly bills.
